St. Joseph the Worker's Youth Group is for children from pre-K through 12th grade.
The younger group (pre-K through 5th grade) meets in the Divine Mercy Hall. This group is led by Jessica Stockstill and Felicia Williams. The younger group meetings are structured using a Vacation Bible School (VBS) curriculum and focuses on encountering Christ through mini lessons, games, songs, and crafts. The group works to give back to the community by helping at Rita Reason’s Ranch in Sparta, MO.
The older group (6th through 12th grade) meets in the parish basement. The group is led by Vanessa Coleman. Meetings utilize small group discussions (the group splits into 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade groups), guest speaker talks, and lessons in Catholic traditions to encounter Christ. The group travels to several Catholic Youth Conferences throughout the year: NET (6th-8th), DYC (7-12th), Steubenville (9-12th) and World Youth Day (16+ years). In the late winter, we take a weekend pilgrimage to learn about Missouri Catholic History; dubbed “Holy History Tours." The group holds several fundraising events throughout the year to help pay for the conferences and trips. Service activities include highway clean-up on Hwy NN in front of our Parish, helping at Ozark Food Harvest, and raising funds for the Bishop’s Lenten Mission.
Together, the groups participate in the monthly Parish Adoration for Vocations.
The Youth Group leaders invite all the youth of our Parish to join Youth Group. The meetings, trips, and events are a great opportunity for the youth of our Parish to be with other friends in Christ, strengthen their faith, and grow in understanding of the richness of our Catholic Faith.
Both groups meet Wednesday evenings from 6pm - 7:30pm. You do no need to pre-register to join either group.
